CHILLIN’ AT THE CNE! 😀
WENT ON THE SKY RIDE – TOOK A SKY HIGH SELFIE
SMILIN’ WITH MY LOVES!! WALKED AROUND AND PETTED SOME ANIMALS TOO 🙂
FOREVER ALONE? NAW. I NEED ONE ALL TO MYSELF.
DID YOU VISIT CNE YET? 🙂
I have to be honest…I didn’t know who he was at first but I immediately used my handy phone to solve that!
Domics is a Canadian Youtuber that has more than a million subscribers! He is also 24 years young and graduated from a local university, ryerson. He now makes a living off animating stories. I happened to walk by his booth and was intrigued by his merchandise.
He told me that this was his first time boothing and he pleasantly said that he’ll probably sell out of merchandise. It was a suprise to run into him because here I was at this filipino festival!
He was accompanied by his girlfriend at his booth and I witnessed his countless fans come by and say hi.
This one little kid came from New York just to say hi to him (with his parents of course). Wow. He had the biggest smile and hung around his booth hugging onto the merchandise he bought.
The reason why I’m posting this is because I recognize where credit is due. Yes, I’m impressed by his subscriber count but I’m more impressed by his animations and storytelling.
My personal goal is to refine my storytelling skills and to hopefully have at least one person enjoy listening!
I had a good time eating food and visiting booths. It’s always refreshing to meet new people and learn new things!
What a great way to start off the summer!!
Load a bunch of Filipino university students on a boat at lakeshore, sail out to catch a great view of Toronto, throw in a dj, add some drinks and pizza, and it’s definitely going to be a goooood time!!
My friend and I headed to this party basically knowing no one. We did some chatting within the line to board the boat and it did pay off later.
The boat had two floors. The bottom floor was a lounge; it had cushioned seats, tables and most importantly had the pizza. The top floor was where you needed to be most of the night. The music was loud, lights flickering, the bar was open, and the dance floor was ready to be warmed up with some dance moves.
I believe it was 5-6 different Filipino university clubs that were present within this “I”M ON A BOAT” party! Each school had their own screaming chants and dance battles took place throughout the night.
OH! And a twerking competition took place! Really? Yes Really.
The winner won $$$. Thank you for making me think tuition could be paid with a swing of my hips…
Though I’m not that much of a dancer but listen; my friend and I pretty much started the first dance circle! (No big deal..)
…There we were dancing with the girls we chatted with before we boarded (omg they were adorable and fun!). All of a sudden (I forget what song came on), people started to go crazy so I started clearing space for my favorite move – the body roll.
I hit that body roll like no one has ever seen. I felt everyone staring at me for this talent I was born with. It was like my spine was temporarily gone and my body was some sexy jelly that could dance. The way I body rolled, each roll was synced to the rhythm of the track – surely it made the whole boat jealous. You know I can’t help it if people like watching a Filipino do a body roll like I earned a degree in it..
I got showed up, served, taken to school.
I didn’t know that within the party there were a pair of break dancers. They took to the circle, basically making me look foolish, and did some flips, choreography etc.
Did that bother me? A bit.
So I walked away from that dance circle that I thought was mine and just danced with some other people.
I do admit there were tons of pretty ladies that night. They were dressed up nice, and I swear – there’s something about girls that can dance… Am I Right???
Pfft I didn’t even get to use any of my pick-up lines!
This boat party was a cool event and I’d definitely want to host my own maybe later in the future!
The boat returned at the dock around 1:00am and we said our goodbyes to our newly made friends.
What followed next was a big late night dinner at a Chinese restaurant and then watching the NBA playoffs at my friends house. I ended up sleeping over and basically I left my car overnight at a parking lot (I was risking getting a parking ticket).
Any experience that is about meeting new people and enjoying life is what I’m about!!
And I’m always looking to build my crew and find interesting things to see and do.
Consider that an indirect and open invitation to anyone reading this…
P.S I just arrived at my car – and no parking ticket! WHAAAAAATT!!!!
Till next time,
After seeing so many posts on my Facebook news-feed about this so called “Archery District” – I decided to check it out.
I drove down to Scarborough on the Monday night. It was near the intersection of Eglington and Birchmount hidden within a plaza of bland looking suites.
Booking for this activity required at least 8 people to have signed up or it would’ve been cancelled. When I registered I quickly chose the time where most people booked.
When I walked into the reception area, it was clear it was a birthday party. That would of explained the almost fully booked capacity…
I was a random plus one into a birthday booking… I thought of it as, yes more targets and more fun!
While we were waiting for all the registrants we signed waivers. Clauses about photos and to acknowledge we may get hurt participating in the activity.
We all lined up into two lines and were taught the rules and techniques of archery. Both spiels were quick and straight to the point. In a few minutes we were loading our bows and releasing our arrows to the practice targets on the wall. Some people were horrible and other seemed to have a natural talent.
Those were the people that said, “OH Y’ALL BETTER WATCH OUT ON THE FIELD!”
Naturally because of the birthday party many of them knew I was a random person and quickly told me they were going to aim for me.
Great. Yay for me.
Knowing the game was about to start in a couple minutes made everyone pace back and fourth. Others were planning where to hide inside the cage full of numerous blow-up ground shields.
What the archery tag experience defined is: dodgeball with bows and arrows. There were three game modes that we played: first was classic (hit, you’re out), second one was ironman (designated “medic” or doctor), and the last one was viral (get hit, go to the other team).
Similarly to Dodgeball there is a fear of getting hit. In this case, by these fast-traveling marshmallow looking arrows. To note you sweat a lot within your mask because of the panting. There are the added struggles of shooting your arrow right, grabbing a nearby arrow, loading it to your bow, and dodging incoming arrows.
During my hour of what I call bow-and-arrow, ninja-like, dodgeball-with-a-twist, I saw plenty of replay worthy highlights. I saw: a person catch an arrow and use it to shoot back, a person get hit straight on in the head, two arrows hit each other in the air neutralizing the shot, a whole team shoot the last person on the other team together, there were so many crazy moments.
Would I try it out again?
My answer would be yes. It’s fun shooting arrows at people and there is a shot of adrenaline in your system as you run, dodge, and shoot the other team.
Yes it was 28.02 when I paid for it but I highly recommend going with a group of people or just crashing another booking like I did.
What was really needed was water at the end of play.
Though they do have a little refrigerator at the counter where you can buy drinks and snacks, I’m pretty sure a water bottle would do the trick.
Overall my experience was great and I would go back if any friends decided to check it out again.
HOOOT FOREST HOOOOOT!
YES!! How cool would it be to get a random person to return a random props?
I’m pretty sure those two “make-up artists” are YouTube/Vine Celebrities Right? Right?
A catchy song needs a trend setting dance – I will learn this.. I Promise
I tried to make a Pokemon reference… It seems to have been captured – by dance! :O
The song is about hooking up! 😉
Maybe I’m a bit over reacting right?
Late night watching television
But how we get in this position?
It’s way too soon, I know this isn’t love
